For beginners. Classes are held in English. You can start on any Sunday from 20th September onward.

A calm Sunday practice for complete beginners. One hour in the morning: self-massage to prepare, then meditation guided by voice. Every class stands on its own, so you can begin whenever you're ready  and every class is recorded.

The stillness your Sunday starts with

This course is about entering the practice without any prior training and without the feeling that you're doing it wrong. Everything is explained in plain language, at a beginner's pace.

Meditation is a staircase, not a single exercise

In the Daoist tradition, meditation is described not as one state but as a sequence of stages of working with consciousness. Each one grows out of the one before it:

  • Observation - simply noticing what is happening: thoughts, sensations, what the body is doing.
  • Attention - learning to direct the mind's gaze where you decide, rather than wherever it gets pulled.
  • Focus - holding that chosen object without blurring away from it.
  • Absorption - staying with it longer, more calmly.
  • Concentration - the state where attention is gathered so completely that the mind becomes quiet by itself.

It helps to know this staircase from the very beginning, because then you can tell where you are and what "it's working" actually means. Not "I'm thinking of nothing" - but "I noticed I had drifted, and I came back."

What happens in a class

1. Preparation through self-massage. We will prepare ourselves for the practice by self-massage of the head, face and neck. In the Daoist tradition it is often done before meditation: to improve circulation in the area of the head, release tension and give attention something to rest on. Afterwards the head feels noticeably lighter and clearer.

2. The meditation itself. Practised together, guided by my voice.

3. Closing and questions. A soft return from the practice, and time to ask anything - including the simplest questions.

The tradition behind it

The method follows the Daoist tradition as transmitted by master Jie Kong (Oleg Cherne). What you'll practise here is its foundation, translated into plain, practical language for people starting from zero.

What it gives you

  • Less inner noise and mental clutter
  • A clearer, calmer state through the day
  • The skill of bringing attention back - the same one that helps at work and in relationships
  • An understanding of how the practice is built: not a set of tricks, but a sequence of stages
  • Over time, a short practice of your own

Who it's for

  • People who have never meditated and don't know where to start.
  • People who have tried the apps but couldn't keep it up.
  • People who work with their head all day and want to learn how to unload it.
  • No experience, flexibility or special fitness is needed - just a chair and an hour of your time.
